These guidelines explain what you can publish in the Likhon library and how it is checked. They sit alongside the uploader agreement in the Terms, which is binding; if the two ever differ, the Terms apply.

1. What the library accepts

Keyboard layouts, themes, word lists, autocorrect and shortcut lists, symbols and fonts. Each item must be under one of the open-source licenses the upload form offers (see section 3).

Files are checked as soon as you upload them: a strict format check, size limits, the license field, and a check that nothing executable or unexpected is inside. You see the results straight away, in plain words.

2. What it does not accept

  • Work you did not make and have no right to share, including fonts, layouts or word lists taken from commercial products.
  • The Bijoy keyboard layout, or layouts that copy a commercial layout whose owner has not allowed it.
  • Legacy (ASCII-encoded) Bangla fonts.
  • Autocorrect or shortcut lists that replace words with something offensive, misleading or harmful.
  • Anything with names, logos or descriptions that suggest another company or product made or endorses it.
  • Anything that breaks the law or the Terms.

3. Licenses

You choose the license when you upload. The library allows: MIT, Apache 2.0, BSD 3-Clause, CC0 1.0, CC BY 4.0, CC BY-SA 4.0, SIL OFL 1.1, MPL 2.0, and the GPL licenses the form lists. If your item is based on someone else's work, its license must allow that, and you must keep their credit and choose a license their license permits. Once published, the license applies to everyone who downloads the item, and cannot be taken back for copies already given out.

4. Fonts

A font must come with its license file, and the license must allow the font to be shared and bundled. The library accepts fonts under the SIL OFL 1.1, Apache 2.0, MIT, MPL 2.0, and GPL with the font exception; a GPL font without the font exception says so on its page. Keep the font's own name and credits; under the SIL OFL a changed font may not use a Reserved Font Name. Legacy (ASCII) fonts are not accepted.

5. How items are reviewed

A reviewer looks at every item before it is published, and can approve it, ask for changes, or reject it, with a message to you. Autocorrect and shortcut lists show every replacement to the reviewer, and may need a second reviewer. A new version of an item goes back to review. Some approved items are picked at random to be checked again later. Approved items are signed offline before the app can download them.

6. After publishing

Your item shows the author name you chose. Anyone can report it; if a report is upheld, or the item breaks these guidelines or the Terms, it may be removed and added to the signed list of withdrawn items (see Report and takedown).

For the lawyer

Draft updated 2026-10-24 by Claude (an AI assistant, not a lawyer). Check that sections 2 to 4 match the uploader agreement in the Terms, and that the list of licenses matches config('likhon.licenses') and font_licenses.
