Draft: a lawyer reviews this text before the first public release.
Likhon's own license
Likhon is free to download and use. Unless a file or component states otherwise, Likhon's own source code is licensed under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 (MPL-2.0). What that lets you do, and what you must do when you share or change Likhon, is in the Software licensing terms. Use of the app is also covered by the Software license agreement. The parts made by others keep their own licenses, listed on Open-source licenses and credits, and nothing in Likhon's own license or agreement limits the rights those licenses give you.
Source of the MPL-2.0 files
Some of Likhon's files are made from Avro Keyboard, Copyright OmicronLab, which is published under the Mozilla Public License 2.0 (MPL-2.0):
- Built into the app: the Jatiya and Probhat layouts, the starting word list and autocorrect list of the dictionary, and the Unicode to Bijoy converter (ported to Rust; the Bijoy to Unicode direction is Likhon's own addition to the same file).
- In the library: the Munir and Avro Easy layouts, and eleven color themes made from Avro Keyboard's skins.
These files, with Likhon's changes, stay under the MPL-2.0. The MPL is applied file by file: it covers these files and does not change the license of the rest of Likhon. You may use, change and share these files under the MPL-2.0.
As the MPL-2.0 requires, the source of these files is available to everyone who receives them:
- Avro Keyboard's original files: https://github.com/mugli/Avro-Keyboard/tree/6766d27fd2c7b41d0ce77fe872f90d2f6348c3b1
- Likhon's source code, with its versions of these files, is published with the first public release. Until then, write to [legal@likhon.app] and we will send you the source of these files, free of charge.
The full text of the MPL-2.0 is in the app (Settings > About > Open-source credits) and in the license texts.
Names and trademarks
Avro Keyboard, Bijoy, Proshika, UniJoy, Khipro, Windows and other product names belong to their owners. Likhon uses them only to say where a part came from or which keyboard layout or text encoding it works with. Likhon is not made, sponsored or endorsed by them, and is not connected with them.
"Likhon" and the Likhon logo are the names and marks of [legal name of the operator]. You may use the name to refer to Likhon, but not for a changed version or in a way that suggests we made or endorse something we did not.
